She grew up helping on her family's farm. After high school, Tammy attended the local community college. She got involved in student government and graduated with honors. Tammy then transferred to the state university where she majored in political science. In her senior year, Tammy interned for a state senator. This experience sparked her interest to someday run for office herself. After graduation, Tammy returned home and worked for several years as a teacher. She became active in local issues and community organizations. In 2018, Tammy decided to run for a seat in the state legislature.
