Political Experience
Bennett was first elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2016, representing House District 92. Throughout his tenure, he focused on bipartisan legislation and constituent services. He was re-elected in 2024 unopposed and would have been eligible to serve through 2028.
During his five terms in the legislature, Bennett worked on various initiatives, including a bill requiring parental notification when their child is placed with another student driver—legislation he championed after a constituent's daughter was killed in a car accident.
In November 2025, Bennett was elected president of the Oklahoma State AFL-CIO and resigned from his House seat effective December 1, 2025, to lead the labor organization. His legislative focus had increasingly emphasized bipartisan cooperation, with more of his Democratic-backed bills passing with Republican support by the end of his tenure.
