Biography
Brenda Stanley
Brenda Stanley is a Republican state senator representing Senate District 42 in Oklahoma, which includes Tinker Air Force Base. She has represented this district since 2018.
Stanley grew up in Duluth, Georgia, and later relocated to Oklahoma, where she established her career in education and public service. She is based in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Stanley was a dedicated educator and administrator in Oklahoma's public school system for 43 years before her retirement in 2016. During her personal life, she was the primary caregiver for her husband, Fred, for nine years during his battle with cancer until his death in 2012. She has maintained long-standing community involvement, serving as a member of Meadowood Baptist Church for over 30 years and participating in various local organizations including the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Midwest City.
Education
Stanley holds multiple degrees in education and administration:
- Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Georgia College
- Master of Education from the University of Georgia
- Bachelor of Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma
Political Experience
Since entering the Oklahoma State Senate in 2018, Stanley has built a record of legislative activity. She serves as vice chair of the Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, a position well-suited to her district's proximity to Tinker Air Force Base. She has authored legislation including Senate Bill 95, which received unanimous committee approval.
Beyond her legislative duties, Stanley has continued her educational work as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she supervises student teachers, and previously served as a Project Manager at Rose State College.
