John James (MI-10)

Biography

John Edward James, born on June 8, 1981, in Southfield, Michigan, is an American politician, businessman, and former military officer. He currently serves as the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 10th Congressional District, a position he has held since January 3, 2023. Prior to his election to Congress, James was the President of James Group International and CEO of Renaissance Global Logistics, a Detroit-based supply chain management and logistics services company.

James is a combat veteran who served eight years of active duty in the U.S. Army as a Ranger-qualified aviation officer. During Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2007 to 2009, he led two Apache helicopter platoons in combat operations.

In April 2025, James announced his candidacy for governor of Michigan in the 2026 election.
