Biography
Tom Barrett is a Republican U.S. Representative for Michigan's 7th Congressional District, which includes all of Ingham, Clinton, Shiawassee, and Livingston Counties, most of Eaton County, and parts of Oakland and Genesee Counties. Born on April 30, 1981, in Southfield, Michigan, he grew up in a hardworking family with his father working two jobs and his mother raising him and his six siblings, instilling values of hard work, perseverance, and family. He lives in Charlotte, Michigan, with his wife, Ashley, and their four children: Patrick, Eleanora, Gwendolyn, and Louis. A Catholic and member of the VFW, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus, Barrett is a fiscal conservative committed to veterans' issues, tax cuts, and opposing corporate welfare.
Notable achievements include 22 years of U.S. Army service , logging over 1,000 hours flying advanced helicopters in locations like Iraq, Guantanamo Bay, Kuwait, and the Korean DMZ, and sponsoring 38 bipartisan bills in the Michigan State Legislature, many aiding veterans, domestic violence prevention, human trafficking efforts, and tax policy.
