Biography

Born on March 23, 1948, in Port Arthur, Texas, Brian Philip Babin is a lifelong resident of East Texas. He has served as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 36th congressional district since January 3, 2015. Prior to his congressional tenure, Babin practiced dentistry in Woodville, Texas, for over 30 years. His early career included service as an airborne artilleryman in the Texas Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve. He also held various jobs to finance his education, such as merchant seaman, janitor, musician, disc jockey, and U.S. Post Office letter carrier. Following dental school, Babin was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Air Force and stationed overseas at Ramstein, Germany.

Babin and his wife, Roxanne, have been married since 1972 and have five children and 17 grandchildren. They are active members of the First Baptist Church of Woodville, where Babin has served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and member of Gideons International.
