Mark Alford (MO-4)

Biography

Mark Alford is a Republican representative for Missouri's 4th Congressional District, which covers west-central Missouri. A native of the Harrisonville area in Missouri and son of an agriculture teacher, he is a husband to Leslie and father of three grown children. Before entering politics, Alford worked for 35 years as a television news anchor, including 25 years anchoring Kansas City's #1 morning news show at WDAF-TV, and reported in markets like Texas, Florida, and Missouri. He hosted the podcast "Getting Comfortable with Mark Alford" from 2018 to 2019, interviewing public figures. Alford launched his campaign in October 2021 to succeed Rep. Vicky Hartzler, winning the 2022 general election with 71% of the vote; he has served in Congress since January 3, 2023. His campaign emphasized election integrity, immigration, conservative social issues, agriculture, and an "America First" agenda.

• Political Experience: Elected to the U.S. House in 2022 for the 118th Congress, initially serving on the House Armed Services, Agriculture, and Small Business Committees. In the 119th Congress, he joined the powerful House Appropriations Committee and continues on the Small Business Committee, where he chairs the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. As a former small business owner and news anchor, Alford raised millions for charities and served on numerous boards.
