Biography
Gregory John Landsman, born on December 4, 1976, in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a Democratic politician representing Ohio's 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since January 3, 2023. Prior to his congressional tenure, Landsman served on the Cincinnati City Council from 2018 to 2022, where he led initiatives to enhance public safety and core services. He was instrumental in establishing Cincinnati's first Office of Ethics and Good Government and the Balanced Development Scorecard to promote transparency in local governance.
Before entering elected office, Landsman dedicated his career to advocating for children and families. He worked as a public school teacher and served as the Executive Director of the Strive Partnership, focusing on education advocacy. Additionally, he was appointed Director of Faith-based and Community Initiatives under former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, leading efforts to assist local religious organizations in providing educational and food programs.
In 2016, Landsman spearheaded the successful Cincinnati Preschool Promise ballot measure, ensuring two years of quality preschool education for every three- and four-year-old in Cincinnati. In 2018, he built a coalition to pass the largest investment in transportation and infrastructure in Hamilton County's history.
In Congress, Landsman serves on the House Committee on Small Business and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. He is a member of several caucuses, including the New Democrat Coalition, the Congressional Labor Caucus, and the Congressional Equality Caucus.
Landsman resides in Cincinnati with his wife, Sarah, and their two children, Maddie and Elijah.
