Biography

Gabe Amo is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District since November 13, 2023. Born on December 11, 1987, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, he is the son of Ghanaian and Liberian immigrants. Amo's mother is a nurse, and his father owns a liquor store. His election marked a historic milestone as he became the first Black representative from Rhode Island in Congress.

Education

  • Moses Brown School, Providence, Rhode Island: Graduated in 2005; served as President of the Student Senate and received the Rhode Island Secretary of State’s Civic Leadership Award.
