Biography
Michelle Davis is a Republican member of the Indiana House of Representatives representing District 58, which covers parts of Johnson County. Elected in November 2020, she assumed office on November 4, 2020, and resides in Whiteland with her husband James and their two children, Stephanie and Nickolas. A native of Bargersville raised in Johnson County, she emphasizes faith, family, hard work, and conservative policies like protecting female athletes, parental rights in education, medical freedom, and expanding career and technical education. Notable achievements include authoring House Bill 1041 in 2021 to bar transgender girls from girls' and women's sports, creating the “Hardworking Hoosier Award” to recognize community service, induction into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary team in 2012, and serving as an Indiana School Safety Specialist. She serves as Vice Chair of the House Education Committee and on the Board of Governors for the Indianapolis Children’s Dyslexia Center.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Franklin Community High School; earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Ball State University , where she played basketball; obtained a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction from Purdue University.
- Professional Experience: Worked as a systems analyst for Ameritech/AT&T; helped run the family business; currently Director of Adult Education at Central Nine Career Center in Greenwood; owns and operates a local outdoor storage lot. Member of Indiana Association of Adult and Continuing Education, Coalition of Adult Basic Education, Indiana Literacy Association, and board member of Region 5 Workforce Development Board.
- Political Experience: First elected to Indiana House District 58 in 2020 as a Republican; active in education and workforce development policy.
