Biography
Linda Chaney is a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing District 61 . Born June 21 in New York, she moved to Florida in 1982. Prior to politics, she worked in marketing and business development, co-founding Tampa Bay Mobile Mammography and serving as manager for AdventHealth Mobile Mammography. She also worked at Eckerd College in the non-profit sector, helping adults complete degrees. Chaney is married to Bill Yovic, enjoys sailing and outdoor activities, and shares her home with three rescued dogs. Her religious affiliation is Christian.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida; certified by Eckerd College’s Leadership Development Institute.
- Political Experience: Served on the St. Pete Beach City Commission , where she protected beaches, kept taxes low, advocated for infrastructure rebuilding, established the Environmental Stewardship Board, and secured resident input on casino gambling. Represented the city on bodies like the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, Pinellas County School Board, and Barrier Islands Governmental Council. Elected to the Florida House in November 2020, reelected subsequently; terms out in 2028. Current roles include Chair of the Government Operations Subcommittee, and member of the Health & Human Services Committee, State Affairs Committee, Economic Infrastructure Subcommittee, and State Administration Budget Subcommittee.
