Biography
Johanna López is a Democratic representative for Florida House District 43, covering parts of East Orlando in Orange County. Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, to a World War II veteran father and a housekeeper mother, she moved to Orlando in 1998, starting with jobs at a car wash and fast-food restaurant. A mother of four—Esteban, Giovanna, Alondra, and Gianna—she resides in Orlando and works as a public relations and civic engagement strategist.
Education and Political Experience
López lacks specified higher education details in available records, but her career highlights her as a leader, educator, and advocate. In 2018, she made history as the first Latina elected to the Orange County School Board via a student-led campaign. There, she prioritized student safety during the pandemic, improved teacher and staff benefits, and led the renaming of Stonewall Jackson Middle School to Roberto Clemente Middle School.
Elected to Florida House District 43 in 2022 and reelected in 2024, she serves as Deputy Democratic Whip.
