Lawrence M. Walsh was born in New York. He graduated from Columbia Law School in 1936. Walsh was a Special Assistant US Attorney General in 1951, and in January 1954, he was appointed Deputy US Attorney General by President Eisenhower. In July 1957, President Eisenhower appointed him to the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. In 1981, Walsh was appointed independent counsel to investigate the Iran-Contra affair during the Reagan Administration. His investigation led to indictments of 14 people and 11 convictions.read less
