Biography

Jed Davis

Jed Davis is a Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives representing the 75th District. Born and raised in Lisbon, Illinois, Davis has deep roots in the southwestern Chicago metropolitan area. He is married to Melissa and has four children. Davis resides in Newark, Illinois, and has been actively involved in his local community through various civic and organizational roles.

Davis was elected to the Illinois House in the 2022 general election, defeating Democratic candidate Heidi Henry on November 8, 2022. He assumed office on January 11, 2023, at the start of the 103rd General Assembly. The 75th District encompasses parts of Grundy, Kendall, LaSalle, and Will counties on the southwestern edge of the Chicago metropolitan area.

Education

Davis holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University, which he earned between 1996 and 2000.

Political Experience

Davis previously served in local government as Past Chair of the Zoning and Planning Commission of Newark and as a Past Trustee of the Village of Newark. Currently, he serves as School Board President of Parkview Christian Academy.

In the state legislature, Davis joined the Illinois Freedom Caucus, a group of Republican legislators inspired by the U.S. House Freedom Caucus. He serves on five House committees: Cities and Villages; Economic Opportunity and Equity; Mental Health and Addiction; Small Business, Tech Innovation, and Entrepreneurship; and the Subcommittee of Transportation of Regulations, Roads & Bridges.

Professional Background

Prior to his election to the state legislature, Davis held several positions in engineering and development, including Regional Sales Manager at National Oilwell Varco, technical sales roles, project development positions, and roles in engineering and construction management with companies including Aspen Group, Sisk Companies, Centex Homes, and Engineering Enterprises, Inc.
