Biography

David A. Vella is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives representing the 68th district since January 13, 2021. The district includes parts of Cherry Valley, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Rockford, and Roscoe. A lifelong resident of Rockford, he defeated Republican incumbent John Cabello in the 2020 election. Vella lives in Rockford with his wife Michelle and daughter Grace; his son Ryan also resides there. His grandfather, E.J. "Zeke" Giorgi, previously served as a state representative. Notable focuses include workforce development, public safety, economic development, supporting veterans, and empowering women.
