Roger F. Wicker was elected to the United States Senate in 2008 after serving Mississippi in the House of Representatives for 13 years. Wicker graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor's degree and Ole Miss Law School before serving in the Air Force as an officer. He then worked as an attorney, state government staffer, and public policy research organization staffer.
