Robert "Bob" Menendez was born on January 1, 1954 in New York City. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Saint Peter's College in 1976 and his law degree from Rutgers School of Law in 1979. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1993, and later served as the Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus from 2008 to 2010. In January 2006, he was appointed to fill the U.S. Senate seat of Jon Corzine who had resigned to become the Governor of New Jersey. He was later elected to a full six-year term as U.S. Senator in 2006 and re-elected in 2012 and 2018.read less
