Marilyn S. John was born in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana. She received her B.A. from Louisiana State University in 1972 and her M.Ed. from Nicholls State University in 2003. John was a teacher in the St. Mary Parish school system for over 30 years. She served on the St. Mary Parish Council from 1996-2008. In 2007, John won a special election for the Louisiana House of Representatives 96th district. She served in the state House 2007-2020.read less
