Biography
Nathan Sosa is a Democratic member of the Oregon House of Representatives representing District 30, which encompasses Hillsboro, Helvetia, Rock Creek, and West Union. He assumed office on February 1, 2022, following an appointment by the Washington County Board of Commissioners. In November 2022, he was elected to retain his seat with a decisive margin of 61.7% to 39%.
Sosa has deep community ties to Hillsboro, where he has lived and worked for many years. He is committed to expanding economic opportunities for Oregonians and protecting people's rights.
Education
Sosa holds a Juris Doctor ** from UNLV Law School and a **Bachelor of Arts in History from UNLV.

Sosa has built an extensive record of public service:
Government Ethics Commission: In 2017, Governor Kate Brown appointed him to the Oregon Government Ethics Commission. He was elected vice chair in 2019 and chair in 2020, serving until 2021. During his tenure, he led efforts to expand the commission's authority to enforce public meetings laws.
Legislative Committees: In the 2023 legislative session, he was appointed vice chair of the House Committee on Business and Labor and served as a member of the House Committee on Higher Education, the Joint Committee on Ways and Means Subcommittee on Transportation and Economic Development, and the Joint Committee on Semiconductors. In the 2026 legislative session, he serves as chair of the House Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection and is a member of the House Committee on Economic Development, Small Business, and Trade. He is also a member of the BIPOC Caucus.
Legislative Focus: Sosa has championed bills related to consumer protection, government transparency, and higher education. He contributed to passing strong consumer protections during the 2026 legislative session.
Community Involvement: Beyond his legislative work, Sosa has served as president of the Hillsboro Schools Foundation, member of the Hillsboro 2035 Community Plan Oversight Committee, ambassador with the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and youth mentor with Portland State University and Lewis and Clark Law School.
