Kyrsten Sinema was born in Tucson, Arizona and raised in a middle-class family. She worked as a Mormon missionary in Florida after high school. Later, she earned degrees from BYU, Arizona State University, and Arizona State University College of Law. After law school, she worked as a criminal defense attorney and served in the Arizona House of Representatives, the Arizona Senate, and the U.S. House of Representatives before being elected in 2018 as Arizona's first woman senator and the first openly bisexual senator in U.S. history. In the Senate, Sinema serves on several committees including the Committee on Homeland Security and the Special Committee on Aging. She is seen politically as a centrist Democrat.read less
