Margaret Wood Hassan was born on February 27, 1958, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Harvard College and earned her law degree from Northeastern University. Before entering politics, Hassan worked as an attorney and served as a community activist in New Hampshire. She was elected to the New Hampshire State Senate, making a mark as a champion of education and health care reform. In 2012, Hassan was elected Governor of New Hampshire, promoting policies focused on job creation and expanding access to healthcare. Since 2016, she has served as a U.S. Senator, continuing to advocate for progressive policies that support working families.read less
