John Barrasso (Statewide)

Biography

John Barrasso, born on July 21, 1952, in Reading, Pennsylvania, is a Republican U.S. Senator representing Wyoming. He was appointed to the Senate in 2007 following the death of Senator Craig L. Thomas and has since been reelected multiple times, most recently in 2024 with over 75% of the vote. Prior to his Senate tenure, Barrasso served in the Wyoming State Senate from 2003 to 2007. An orthopedic surgeon by profession, he practiced medicine in Casper, Wyoming, for 24 years and was known as "Wyoming’s Doctor." Barrasso has three children and resides in Casper.
