Biography

Jacklyn Sheryl "Jacky" Rosen, born on August 2, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, is a Democratic U.S. Senator representing Nevada. She was first elected to the Senate in 2018, defeating Republican incumbent Dean Heller, and was re-elected in 2024. Prior to her Senate tenure, Rosen served as the U.S. Representative for Nevada's 3rd congressional district from 2017 to 2019. She is the second woman to represent Nevada in the U.S. Senate and the only Jewish woman currently serving in the chamber.

Before entering politics, Rosen worked as a computer programmer and software developer. She also served as president of Congregation Ner Tamid, Nevada's largest synagogue, where she led a team that constructed one of the largest solar projects by a non-profit in southern Nevada.

• Building Blocks of STEM Act: In 2019, Rosen's bipartisan legislation aimed at increasing young girls' participation in computer science and enhancing early childhood STEM education was signed into law.
• Bipartisan Comprehensive Care Caucus: In her first year in the Senate, Rosen launched this caucus to address issues related to comprehensive care.
• Federal Policy Maker of the Year Award: In 2019, the State Educational Technology Directors Association honored Rosen for her commitment to advancing technology in education.
