James P. McGovern is the U.S. Representative for Massachusetts's 2nd Congressional District. He was born in Worcester, and earned his B.A. from American University. He worked as a congressional aide before winning election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1990. McGovern was then elected mayor of Worcester in 1997. In 2012, he was challenged in the Democratic primary but won and went on to win the general election with 98% of the vote. He sits on the House Committees on Rules and Agriculture.read less
