Derek Kilmer was born January 1, 1974 in Port Angeles, Washington. He earned his BA from Princeton University and his doctorate from Oxford University as a Marshall Scholar. Kilmer served as a business consultant and as a public affairs manager for McKinstry. He was elected to the Washington State House in 2004 and served as House Majority Leader starting in 2011. In 2012, Kilmer was elected to the U.S. House to represent Washington's 6th Congressional District. He serves on the Appropriations Committee, and the Select Committees on the Climate Crisis and Economic Disparity & Fairness in Growth.read less
