Wesley Parish Hunt was born on November 13, 1981, in Houston, Texas, to Willie L. Hunt, a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, and Dianne Johnson Hunt. He was raised in a military family and is a graduate of St. John's School in Houston. Hunt comes from a military background—his siblings, D'Hania Hunt and Wrendon Hunt, are also graduates of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Hunt is married to Emily Hunt, a pediatric nurse practitioner, and they have three children: Victoria, Olivia, and Willie Parish Hunt II. He resides in Houston, Texas.
Education
Hunt attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Management with a field of study in mechanical engineering. After his military service, he pursued advanced education at Cornell University, earning three graduate degrees: a Master of Business Administration , a Master of Public Administration , and a Master of Industrial and Labor Relations .
Political Experience
Hunt served eight years in the United States Army as an Apache helicopter pilot, achieving the rank of Captain. His military service included one combat deployment to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he flew 55 combat air missions, and two deployments to Saudi Arabia, where he served as a Diplomatic Liaison Officer.
Prior to his Congressional career, Hunt worked briefly in construction and human resources at Perry Homes. He first ran for Congress in 2020 in Texas's 7th District but narrowly lost to incumbent Democrat Lizzie Fletcher, receiving 47.4% of the vote. In 2022, Hunt won the Republican primary in Texas's newly created 38th District with over 63.8% of the vote and subsequently won the general election. He has been serving in the U.S. House of Representatives since January 3, 2023, and is currently in his second term.
In Congress, Hunt serves on the House Committee on the Judiciary and House Committee on Natural Resources. He chairs the Rural Development, Energy, and Supply Chains subcommittee. Hunt has focused on flood resilience efforts for his district, securing funding for six projects to improve stormwater and wastewater systems. In 2025, President Trump appointed him to the United States Military Academy Board of Visitors.
