Debbie Stabenow was born in Gladwin, Michigan on April 29, 1950. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in 1972. In 1975, Stabenow was elected to the Ingham County Board of Commissioners and served until 1978. She was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives where she served from 1979 to 1990, followed by a stint in the Michigan Senate from 1991 to 1994.read less
