  • Ballot handling and transparency: Ballots must be signed by the casting Senator; unsigned ballots are not counted. The Chair of the Committee canvasses and declares results; all ballots are retained by the Senate Principal Clerk as permanent records and are open for immediate public inspection.
  • Notification: When elections are complete, the Chair notifies the Secretary of the UNC Board of Governors of the names and terms of those elected.
  • Withdrawal: Any nominee may withdraw without approval of the sponsoring Senator.
