A commitment from candidates for public office to the people they seek to serve.
Why This Matters
The need for real engagement between citizens and their elected officials has never been greater.
The issues ahead are complex, consequential, and impossible to get right from behind a closed door. The decisions I will face in office will shape lives, communities, and the future we hand to the next generation — and I do not believe anyone can make those decisions well in isolation.
The best judgment comes from staying close to the people affected by it: hearing their concerns directly, understanding the realities they live, and weighing perspectives I would never reach on my own.
That is why I am making this commitment now, before a single vote is cast. I intend to use WeVote as a vital platform for doing this job the way it should be done — a direct, open channel to the people I serve, where I can listen, learn, explain my thinking, and stay accountable throughout my time in office.
I see this not as an obligation to endure but as one of the most valuable tools available to me: a way to inform my decisions, sharpen my judgment, and keep my perspective grounded in the people I represent.
Representation is not a title you win on Election Day. It is a relationship you maintain every day after.
This pledge is how I commit to maintaining it — in the open, where my constituents can see it.
By signing this pledge, I commit to the following:
The Core Pledge
1. I will stay reachable. I will maintain an active, verified presence on WeVote so that any constituent can reach me, ask questions, and hear back — not just during election season, but throughout my entire term in office.
2. I will show up in person. I will hold regular public town halls and community events, open to all constituents, where people can speak with me directly and I can answer questions face to face.
3. I will explain my decisions. When I cast a vote or take a public position, I will share my reasoning openly, so the people I represent understand not just what I decided, but why.
4. I will engage in good faith. I will participate in public forums and debates, listen to views I disagree with, and treat every constituent — supporter or critic — with respect.
