Biography
Yasmin Neal is a Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 79 . A native of Clayton County, she was born and raised there, attended local public schools including Jonesboro High School, and was elected as the youngest member of the Georgia House at age 25 . She is currently serving her fourth term, with prior service in Districts 74 and 75. Neal chairs the Clayton County Legislative Delegation and previously chaired the Clayton County Democratic Party. Her priorities follow the C.H.E.S.S. model: Children, Healthcare, Education, Seniors, and Safety. Notable achievements include sponsoring bills signed into law, such as HB 236 , HB 571 , HB 304 , and local housing protections. She has received awards like the Conservation Award from Georgia Conservation Voters, Future is Now Award from Young Democrats of Atlanta, and Star Award from the Georgia League of Women Voters. Neal co-founded the Chisholm Leadership Academy, a nonprofit for girls of color focused on civic education, and lectures at schools, universities , and law venues including the Georgia State Bar and FBI.
