Biography
David “Woody” Woodsome is a Republican representing House District 139 in the Maine House of Representatives, serving the communities of Limerick, Parsonsfield, and part of Waterboro in York County. A retired high school educator from Waterboro, he previously served in the Maine Senate and has been in the House since 2022 , currently in his second term. Notable positions include ranking member of the Leaves of Absence Committee, and service on the Environment and Natural Resources Committee and Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee. He was a Waterboro selectman for three years , and has been involved in local groups such as the Charter Commission, Road Review Committee, Waterboro Republican Caucus, Waterboro Historical Society, Sanford Elks Club, and Spring Social Club.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.S. from the University of Maine at Orono , 1970.
- Professional Background: Taught social studies and history at Massabesic High School, and physical education and health at Fryeburg Academy until retiring in 2014; also coached football and wrestling.
- Political Experience: Elected to Maine House in November 2022; re-elected in 2024; prior service in Maine Senate .
