Senator William Lindstedt

William Lindstedt was raised in Broomfield, Colorado, in a single-parent household. His father left when he was a child, and he and his mother faced financial struggles. To support himself, he worked two or three jobs simultaneously while putting himself through college. Professionally, Lindstedt has worked as an assistant bench jeweler, public transit outreach advocate, and community organizer. He currently resides in Broomfield with his wife, Bria. He is the youngest member of the Colorado State Senate.

Education

Lindstedt attended the University of Colorado Denver. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a Master of Public Administration degree.

Political Experience

Lindstedt serves as the State Senator for Senate District 25, representing Broomfield, Westminster, and Northglenn. He is currently running for reelection to the State Senate. Prior to his service in the Senate, he served in the Colorado House of Representatives. During his time in the House, he passed legislation focused on lowering the cost of living, infrastructure, public schools, environmental protection, and community safety. Notably, he sponsored legislation creating a first-in-the-nation middle-income housing tax credit designed to help teachers, nurses, and first responders live in their communities. He was named the 2023 Habitat for Humanity Legislator of the Year and has been recognized for legislation protecting consumers from predatory practices.

In the legislature, Lindstedt has served as the Chairman of the House Finance Committee and the Chairman of the Legislative Audit Committee. He currently serves on three committees.

Before serving in the state legislature, Lindstedt was a member of the Broomfield City Council. During his tenure on the council, he helped create Broomfield's Housing Authority, authored municipal campaign finance reform to limit the influence of money in local politics, and expanded voting access by adding ballot drop boxes across the city.
