Biography
William N. Brownsberger, born March 21, 1957, in Boston, Massachusetts, is a Democrat representing the Suffolk and Middlesex District in the Massachusetts State Senate, which includes Belmont , Watertown, Allston, Brighton, part of Fenway-Kenmore, and part of Cambridge. He serves as President pro tempore of the Senate and has held the seat since January 2012. Notable achievements include leading criminal justice reforms in 2018 , police reforms in 2020, chairing the Senate's redistricting in 2021, and leading the 2024 Affordable Homes Act conference committee for affordable housing initiatives. His focus areas are justice, transportation, education, the environment, and housing.
