Biography
Wes Virdell is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 53, assuming office on January 14, 2025, after defeating Joe Herrera and B. W. Holk in the November 2024 general election with 76% of the vote. A 9th-generation Texan born in Brownwood, he graduated from Brady High School in 1998, served in the United States Air Force, works as a self-employed small business owner, and serves as Texas State Director for Gun Owners of America. Notable achievements include defeating Hatch Smith in the March 2024 Republican primary to succeed Andrew Murr, and previously running for U.S. Congress in Texas District 11 in 2020, finishing 3rd with 7% of the vote. His priorities focus on gun rights, border security, eliminating property taxes, and conservative values against special interests.
