Biography
Wes Allen is a lifelong Republican serving as Alabama's 54th Secretary of State, sworn in on January 16, 2023, after winning election on November 8, 2022. He previously represented District 89 in the Alabama House of Representatives and served nearly a decade as Pike County's Probate Judge. As Alabama's Chief Elections Official, he has focused on election security, withdrawing from the ERIC system shortly after taking office and launching the Alabama Voter Integrity Database . Notable achievements include championing laws banning internet connectivity for election tabulators, mandating paper ballots, outlawing absentee ballot harvesting and ranked choice voting, and expanding crimes of moral turpitude definitions; he also reduced red tape for businesses and candidates.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama, where he played football for the Crimson Tide, and a Master's degree from Troy University.
- Political Experience: Pike County Probate Judge ; Alabama House District 89 Representative; secured Republican nomination for Secretary of State in June 2022.
