Biography
Delegate Wendell Walker
Wendell Scott Walker is a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 52nd District, which encompasses the City of Lynchburg and part of Campbell County. Born in 1952 in Macon, Georgia, Walker moved to Lynchburg in 1975 to attend Liberty Baptist College, now known as Liberty University. He became the first graduate of Liberty University to represent his district in the Virginia House of Delegates.
Walker is a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and is married to Patsy Lynn Roberts Walker. He has two children, Gregory and Rebecca.
Education and Early Career
Walker earned a degree in Pastoral Ministry from Liberty University in 1984. During his college years, he traveled alongside Dr. Jerry Falwell, Sr., notably participating in the "I Love America" touring program as part of his ministerial studies.
Before entering electoral politics, Walker operated a landscaping business in Lynchburg and spent 21 years working in workforce development, where he focused on equipping and training the workforce through Virginia's Registered Apprenticeship programs.
Political Experience
Walker was first elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in November 2019 and has been serving since 2020. Within the House, he serves on the Finance Committee and the Health and Human Services Committee. He also holds positions on several other bodies, including the Secretary of Labor Work Group on Workforce Development, the Joint Commission on Administrative Rules, the School Health Services Committee, and the Block Grants Committee.
As a prominent Republican Party leader, Walker has held multiple leadership positions, including Chairman of the Lynchburg Republican City Committee, Chairman of the 6th District Republican Committee, and currently serves as the House of Delegates Caucus Representative on the State Central Committee. Since the 1990s, he has been instrumental in recruiting and campaigning with local, state, and national Republican officials.
Walker advocates for fiscal responsibility, limited government, and has been a consistent voice for taxpayers in Central Virginia.
