Biography
Wayne Sasser, born Clayton Wayne Sasser on February 1, 1950, is a Republican who served as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2019 to 2025, representing the 67th district, which includes all of Stanly County and parts of Cabarrus County. He defeated incumbent Justin Burr in the 2018 Republican primary and won subsequent elections, including 72.42% of the vote in one general election with 24,040 votes. In November 2023, he announced he would not seek another term. Notable achievements include sponsoring legislation requiring ICE cooperation that became law in June 2024, supporting term limits , and backing bills like HB 50 , HB 76 , and HB 130 . He served as Chairman of the Health and Appropriations committees.
