Biography
Wayne Laroche is a Republican representative for Franklin-5 in the Vermont House of Representatives, serving since February 15, 2022, after appointment by Governor Phil Scott to replace Paul Martin. Born in Sheldon, Vermont, he resides in Franklin and has a extensive background in wildlife management and marine biology. Notable positions include Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife under Governor Jim Douglas and Director of the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Bureau of Wildlife Management until his 2018 retirement.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans ; BS in Wildlife Management from University of Maine ; MS in Natural Resource Management from Humboldt State University .
- Professional Experience: Worked as a marine biologist at University of Maine, Oregon State University, and University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Coast Research Center; owned businesses in environmental consulting, construction, restaurant, and dairy feed; staff scientist for Lake Champlain International.
- Political Experience: Vermont House of Representatives .
