Biography

Vincent "Vinnie" Miresse is a Democratic representative for Wisconsin Assembly District 71, elected in 2024 and serving since January 2025. Born on November 26, 1977, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, he is a long-time Portage County resident, sustainable building contractor, small business owner, and community advocate focused on environmental conservation, clean water, rural livability, and climate change. He previously served four terms on the Portage County Board of Supervisors since 2017, chairing the Solid Waste Management Board and Portage County Healthcare Center committee, and vice-chairing the Human Resources committee. Notable achievements include authoring referendums on fair maps, medical and recreational marijuana, healthcare center issues, and clean water; his leadership earned an invitation to the Governor’s 2020 State of the State Address. He co-authored Assembly Bill 435 to reauthorize the Warren Knowles-Gaylord Nelson Stewardship 2000 program and serves on the Assembly Committee on Environment. Miresse volunteers with the Midwest Renewable Energy Association , Central Rivers Farmshed, CREATE Portage County and Wisconsin advisory boards, and Wisconsin Farmers Union. Married to Gina Victoria Sinisi, his next election is in 2026.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in history, anthropology, and music. Graduate of the Emergency Services Citizen Academy and UW-Extension Local Government Leadership Academy. Worked at the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station as head naturalist and site manager, teaching environmental education; inspired by Aldo Leopold’s work. Funded college through performing jazz, folk, funk, country, and Latin music; later lived in the mountain West and internationally, surviving as a musician before returning to central Wisconsin.
  • Political Experience: Elected to Portage County Board in 2017, serving on Executive Operations, Judicial/General Government, Agriculture/UW-Extension, and former Diversity committees. Elected to Wisconsin Assembly District 71 in 2024 as a freshman legislator, emphasizing conservation and rural issues.
