Senator Val Applewhite is a Democrat representing District 19 in the North Carolina State Senate, serving her second term in the 2025-2026 session. A decorated veteran, she retired after a 20-year career in Intelligence and Communications Security with the United States Air Force and later served as a civilian leading the Information Assurance Directorate at the Air Force Pentagon Communications Agency.
