Biography
Tyler McCaughn is a Republican politician representing Mississippi's 31st Senate District since January 7, 2020. Born on July 14, 1982, in Morton, Mississippi, he serves as vice-chair of the Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Committee and holds memberships on committees including Agriculture, Appropriations, County Affairs, Environment Protection, Conservation and Water Resources, Forestry, Judiciary Division A, Judiciary Division B, and Municipalities.
He owns farming-based businesses, works as an attorney licensed in all Mississippi state and federal courts, and previously served as attorney for the town of Hickory, municipal judge for Decatur, adjunct professor at East Central Community College, and attorney for Mississippi Regional Housing Authority V. Notable positions include advocating for infrastructure improvements to boost industry and bipartisan lawmaker collaboration; he voted against changing the Mississippi state flag in 2020 while expressing conflict over the decision.
