Biography
Tyler August is a Republican representative for Wisconsin's 31st Assembly District, based in Lake Geneva. A seventh-generation resident of Walworth County, he was born on January 26, 1983, and has served as a full-time legislator since his first election to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2010, currently in his seventh term. Notable achievements include his unanimous selection as Assembly Majority Leader in late 2022, following his role as Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore from 2013 to 2023. He won his initial 2010 Republican primary by a razor-thin margin after a recount and has held leadership positions throughout most of his 13+ year career. August is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and maintains deep ties to Walworth County values.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Big Foot High School in 2001; attended University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and University of Wisconsin-Madison.
- Early Political Roles: Served as chief of staff to former State Rep. Tom Lothian; former Chairman of the Republican Party of Walworth County and the 1st Congressional District Republican Party ; former Executive Board member of the Republican Party of Wisconsin.
