Biography

Troy Balderson

William Troy Balderson was born on January 16, 1962, and is a lifelong resident of Ohio. A native of Muskingum County, he was raised in the region and has maintained strong ties to his community throughout his career. Prior to entering public service, Balderson worked on the family farm and managed the service department for his family-owned small business, Balderson Motor Sales, where he served as vice president and general manager.

Education

Balderson graduated from Zanesville High School and attended Muskingum College and The Ohio State University.

Political Experience

Balderson is a member of the Republican Party and has held several positions in Ohio government and the U.S. Congress:

  • Ohio House of Representatives : Served in District 94 and was a member of multiple committees including Agriculture and Rural Development, Education, Health, and Transportation and Public Safety.

  • Ohio State Senate : Represented District 20 and served as chairman of the powerful Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. During his tenure, he voted to cut taxes by $5 billion, eliminate Ohio's deficit, and replenish the state's rainy-day fund.

  • U.S. House of Representatives : Sworn in on September 5, 2018, representing Ohio's 12th Congressional District, which spans central, eastern, and southeastern Ohio including Licking, Fairfield, Knox, Muskingum, Coshocton, Guernsey, Morgan, Perry, and Athens counties.

In the current Congress, Balderson serves as chairman of the House Energy Action Team ** and **vice chairman of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. He is also a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees American energy, health care, and telecommunications policies. As a principled conservative, he advocates for restoring American energy independence, advancing rural health care innovations, and workforce development in his region.
