Biography

Representative Trey Lamar

John Thomas "Trey" Lamar III was born on August 5, 1980. He is a lifelong resident of Mississippi who returned to his hometown of Senatobia after completing his legal education. Lamar comes from a family with deep roots in the legal profession, as he began practicing law with the firm that his grandfather founded in 1958.

Education

Lamar earned his undergraduate degree in Business with an emphasis in real estate and management from the University of Mississippi . He then attended Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, where he served on the Moot Court Board and as president of the Christian Legal Society. In 2008, he obtained an LLM degree in taxation from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.

Political Experience

Lamar was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives in 2011, where he represents House District 8. He currently serves as the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, a significant position overseeing fiscal and budgetary matters for the state legislature.

Outside of his legislative and legal work, Lamar enjoys spending time with family and friends, outdoor activities, sports, and history.
