Biography of Representative Travis Tranel

Travis Tranel is a Republican state representative from Wisconsin who has represented the 49th Assembly District since 2010. Born on September 12, 1985, he is a lifelong resident of Grant County and currently serves his eighth term in the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Political Experience

Tranel was first elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2010 and has been continuously re-elected since then. He currently serves as Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Agriculture, a position reflecting his deep roots in Wisconsin's farming community. In 2022, he was elected to his seventh term, receiving 14,626 votes and defeating Democrat Lynne Parrott, who received 8,724 votes.

His legislative work has earned recognition, including the Wisconsin Water Alliance Outstanding Water Legislator of the Year Award in 2020.

Background and Achievements

Tranel grew up on his family's dairy farm in southern Grant County near Cuba City, where he learned the values of hard work and family responsibility. He took over the family farm at a young age in 2002 when his father became ill while Tranel was still in high school. Today, Tranel Family Farms operates approximately 550 dairy cows.

Beyond his primary farming operations, Tranel demonstrates entrepreneurial initiative. While in grade school, he started his first business, T&T Labradors, earning recognition as Youth Entrepreneur of the Year from the Entrepreneur Institute of Milwaukee. He also co-owns Fleege Tranel LLC, a custom square baling business that serves over 40 farmers across southwest Wisconsin and northwest Illinois.

Tranel is active in his community, serving as a member of several organizations including St. Joseph's Parish in Sinsinawa , the Wisconsin Farm Bureau, Knights of Columbus, National Rifle Association, and the Grant County Republican Party.
