Biography
Senator Travis Fitzwater
Travis Fitzwater is a Republican who represents District 10 in the Missouri State Senate, which includes Callaway, Lincoln, Montgomery, Pike, and part of St. Charles County. He is a husband, father, and business professional who has spent his career in both the public and private sectors.
Fitzwater and his wife Amy, a licensed professional counselor, live in Holts Summit with their three daughters and a dog. The family is homeschooling their daughters and prioritizes community involvement and faith-based service.
Education
Fitzwater earned a bachelor's degree in political science with an emphasis on international relations from Presbyterian College in South Carolina. He later obtained a master's degree in Atlantic history and politics from the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri.
Political Experience
Fitzwater began his political career knocking on doors for local campaigns in mid-Missouri. In 2014, he was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives after then-Rep. Jeanie Riddle decided to run for the Senate, and he served in that chamber for eight years.
In 2022, following Jeanie Riddle's retirement from the Senate, Fitzwater ran for her Senate seat, winning a competitive primary and subsequently winning the general election.
Beyond his legislative service, Fitzwater has held various leadership roles including positions in college ministry, nonprofit management, real estate investment, small business ownership, and executive experience at the Missouri Pharmacy Association. In the Senate, he currently serves as Chair of the Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety Committee and holds memberships on the Appropriations and Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and the Environment committees.
