Biography
Senator Tracy McCreery
Tracy McCreery is a Democratic member of the Missouri State Senate representing the 24th Senatorial District in St. Louis County. The district includes communities such as Creve Coeur, Des Peres, Fenton, Frontenac, Glendale, Huntleigh, Kirkwood, Ladue, Maryland Heights, Sunset Hills, Valley Park, Westwood, and unincorporated areas of St. Louis County.
McCreery is known for her focus on constituent service and advocacy for healthcare access, consumer protection, and support for vulnerable populations. She previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives, where she became the first woman elected as an Independent to the Missouri General Assembly in a 2011 special election before later affiliating with the Democratic Party.
Beyond the legislature, McCreery has held leadership roles in civic and nonprofit organizations, including serving on the board of the Consumers Council of Missouri and Family Care Health Centers. She has also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri and served as board chair for Safe Connections, an organization supporting victims of relationship violence, sexual assault, and childhood sexual abuse.
Education
Tracy McCreery is a 1985 graduate of Edison High School in Milan, Ohio. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Marketing from The Ohio State University in 1989. Prior to her legislative career, she worked in sales, sales training, and management in the pharmaceutical, telecommunications, and healthcare industries.
Political Experience
McCreery began her political career as a district aide and volunteer coordinator for state Senator Joan Bray and later served in the administration of Governor Bob Holden. In 2011, she won a special election to the Missouri House of Representatives, making her the first woman elected as an Independent to that chamber. She later joined the Democratic Party and continued to serve in the House.
In 2022, she was elected to the Missouri State Senate, representing District 24. During her time in the House, McCreery served as the ranking minority member on the House Agriculture Policy Committee, the House Emerging Issues Committee, and the House Utilities Committee. As a state senator, she continues to focus on healthcare, consumer protection, and equitable policies for her district constituents.
