Biography
Traci Gere
Traci Gere is a Democrat representing Maine House District 134, which serves the communities of Biddeford , Kennebunk , and Kennebunkport. She resides in Kennebunkport and has been serving in the Maine House since being elected in November 2020. She is currently in her third term.
Before entering politics, Gere spent over 30 years in research and marketing in the high-tech and consumer goods industries. Most recently, she owned a retail store focused on creativity, STEM education, and the work of Maine makers. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to education, sustainable economic development, and community-building through her involvement with RSU 21 school board committees focused on physical plant, civil rights, and curriculum assessment.
Education
Gere earned a BA from Brown University and an MBA from Boston University .
Political Experience
Gere serves as Chair of the Housing and Economic Development Committee, which covers a broad range of housing and land use issues including affordable housing, accessory dwelling units, housing-related subdivision law, land use planning, zoning regulation, the Maine State Housing Authority, mortgage lending, and foreclosure prevention. She is also a member of the Engrossed Bills committee.
Her primary focus areas include affordable housing, sustainable economic development, and education policy. She defeated Steadman Seavey in the 2020 Maine House election with 58% of the vote and successfully ran for reelection in 2024.
