Biography
Tony Tinderholt is a Republican who represented Texas House District 94, covering parts of Arlington, Dalworthington Gardens, Pantego, Fort Worth, Hurst, Euless, and Bedford in Tarrant County. A retired combat veteran, father, and business owner, he served multiple terms in the Texas House, earning recognition as the most fiscally conservative legislator by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, a “Faith & Family Champion” by Texas Values, and a “Courageous Conservative” by Texas Conservative Coalition. He served on the Committee on Public Health and the Committee on County Affairs, with endorsements from pro-life, education, business, transportation, public safety, and gun rights groups. On June 2, 2025, he announced he would not seek reelection to the House and is running for Tarrant County Commissioner, Precinct 2.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership; previously worked as a Spanish professor.
- Military Service: 21-year career as Major , starting in the Air Force in 1988 as a Spanish Cryptologic Linguist on counter-drug missions in South and Central America; post-9/11, served in the Army as platoon leader, executive officer, detachment commander, and recruiting commander, deploying to multiple combat zones, managing an $836 million budget and a team of over 400, earning the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Action Badge.
- Political Experience: First elected in 2015 after defeating incumbent Diane Patrick in the 2014 Republican primary; served five to six terms in the Texas House representing District 94.
