Tony Strickland is a Republican California State Senator representing the 36th District since 2025. Born on February 17, 1970, at Fort Ord, California, to an Army Drill Sergeant father, he has over three decades of public service, including prior terms in the State Assembly and State Senate , Huntington Beach City Council , and Mayor of Huntington Beach . Notable achievements include earning a lifetime “A” rating from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association for fiscal responsibility, authoring SB 63 to abolish the California Integrated Waste Management Board, serving as Minority Caucus Chair in the Assembly , and leading efforts to flip Huntington Beach's city council to a 7-0 Republican majority while opposing state housing mandates and advocating for public safety.
